Walter Luckett and his CIAC boys basketball all-time best 2,691 career points earned him street cred a long time ago. But following an event on Saturday July 25, 2026, the 1972 Kolbe High School graduate (and national high school player of the year) has an actual street named after him! “Walter Luckett Way” in Bridgeport right near Kolbe Cathedral High School.
The event came a day after Walter’s 73rd birthday, and 54 years after Governor Thomas Meskill declared April 12, 1972 Walter Luckett Day in Connecticut.
Basketball was just the beginning for this Connecticut legend. He’s been a Bridgeport (and beyond) community champion for decades.
